West Palm Beach, Fla. – Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon today announced employees of the Tax Collector’s Office raised $32,276.00 in 2019 to support three nonprofits: Families First of Palm Beach County, Living Hungry and the Salvation Army. A check presentation ceremony will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at the agency’s Administrative Office in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida.

“These donations are special because every dollar raised and every item donated comes directly from our employees,” said Gannon. “I am extremely grateful to our generous employees who always step up whenever they see a need in the community.”

Families First of Palm Beach County provides assistance to local families, to help them become self-sufficient and provide safe, loving homes for their children. Tax Collector Office employees held two donation drives, collecting thousands of baby items, toys and school supplies. Their combined cash and in-kind donation to Families First of Palm Beach County totaled $14,347.

Living Hungry works to eliminate food insecurity experienced by local homeless school children. Through two donation drives, agency employees collected thousands of personal hygiene products and enough nonperishable food items to pack over 300 meal kits. Their combined cash and in-kind donation to Living Hungry totaled $13,729.00.

The generosity of Tax Collector Office employees continued in the wake of Hurricane Dorian. Employees raised $4,200 in a special dress down event during the month of November. They donated all proceeds to the Salvation Army’s Bahamian relief efforts following the devastating storm.

“I am extremely proud of our employees who give generously all year to support our community,” said Gannon. “Their donations are improving the lives of local families and homeless children as well as our neighbors in the Bahamas. We look forward to supporting Families First of Palm Beach County and Living Hungry again this year.”
