West Palm Beach, Fla. – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has designated May 5 – 11, 2024 National Hurricane Preparedness Week.  This is the time to begin pre-hurricane season preparations and understand what to do before, during and after a storm.  To help with these advance preparations, Palm Beach County Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon is pleased to offer Palm Beach County residents a pocket-size Hurricane Guide.

“We all know hurricanes have the power to devastate communities and lives,” said Gannon.  “Proper preparation is key to help keep your family and home safe and secure during a hurricane.”

This comprehensive pocket-size guide includes an itemized list for family disaster supplies kits, important telephone numbers and a space to record your important information.  The handy guide also includes detailed information about the storms, including the difference between a Hurricane Watch and a Hurricane Warning.   This is a must have during hurricane season, which starts June 1 and runs through November 30.

“It is important for you and your loved ones to be prepared for an approaching storm and this guide will prioritize what is important for you to do in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm,” said Gannon.  “I encourage you to request your copy today and start putting together your Family Disaster Supplies Kit before the official start of hurricane season.”
