West Palm Beach, Fla. – Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon today issued her monthly update regarding REAL ID compliance in Palm Beach County.
As of Jan. 14, 2020, FLHSMV reports 104,311 Palm Beach County residents do not have a REAL ID compliant driver license. Another 1,662 residents do not have a REAL ID compliant state ID card.
“The good news is our office has been issuing REAL ID-compliant driver licenses and state ID cards since 2010 and nearly 92% of Palm Beach County residents have their REAL ID,” said Gannon. “My staff and I will be reaching out to the 105,973 Palm Beach County residents who still need to update their driver license or state ID card before the Oct. 1 deadline.”
Gannon urges residents not to wait until their driver license or state ID card expires. Starting Oct. 1, 2020, every U.S. resident must present a REAL ID-compliant driver license or state ID card to board a commercial flight or enter a federal building. Residents who do not have a REAL ID will have to present an alternate acceptable form of identification, such as a valid U.S. passport, to be allowed through security.
Gannon also reminds the public they cannot update their driver license or state ID card online.
“Palm Beach County residents must come in to one of our offices with required documentation that provides proof of identity and residence,” said Gannon. “Our staff must verify the documentation before issuing a REAL ID-compliant driver license or state ID card.”
Palm Beach County residents should make an appointment for driver license service at www.pbctax.com. Appointments can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance, but available time slots fill up quickly. Make your appointment today!
According to Gannon, it takes less than 15 minutes for her staff to verify the documentation and issue the REAL ID-compliant driver license or state ID card.
“If clients come in prepared with the correct documentation, it’s a very quick transaction from start to finish,” said Gannon. “The key is to plan ahead, make an appointment and bring the required documents.”

Not sure if you have a REAL ID?
Check your Florida driver license or state ID card. Does it have a gold star in the upper right corner? If it is missing the star, you are not REAL ID compliant.
