Property owners can take advantage of discounts by paying early
West Palm Beach, Fla. – Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon announces that the 2022 property tax season begins on November 1, 2022. An estimated 611,768 property tax bills will be sent by Gannon’s office to Palm Beach property owners, so watch your mail for an envelope like the one pictured here. More than $4 billion is expected to be collected this year to fund essential public services, such as education, healthcare, fire rescue, and other services vital to the operation of the county.
“The most efficient and secure option to pay property tax is online at www.pbctax.com,” says Gannon. “Property owners can view, print, download, and pay their bill in just a few clicks. In addition, online payments can be processed in one business day.”
Taxpayers remitting online payments can use eCheck, a free service in which money is electronically transferred from their checking account. Credit and debit cards are also accepted, which includes a 2.4% convenience fee collected by the payment processor, and not retained by the Tax Collector. Tax payments can also be made via more traditional methods:
- By mail: Please allow up to 15 days for bank processing time (excluding mail delivery time).
- Wire transfers: visit www.pbctax.com/wires for more information.
- By Drop Box: All six Tax Collector service centers provide secure payment drop boxes in the lobby, accessible Monday-Friday 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Payments must be sealed in the envelope, and cash is not accepted.
Gannon goes on to say, “I encourage all property owners to take advantage of early payment discounts.” Taxpayers who pay in November will receive a 4% discount, which can be a significant savings. The discount amount decreases by 1% each month through February. There is no discount available for March and taxes not paid by Mach 31, 2023, will become delinquent on April 1.“
Save time and money by enrolling in the Installment Payment Plan (IPP). IPP is a budget-friendly plan that offers property owners the convenience of paying four smaller payments throughout the year while receiving a discount of slightly under 4%. Online IPP applications for next year’s 2023 taxes are now available through April 30 at www.pbctax.com/ipp. IPP enrollment for this year’s 2022 taxes closed in April.
