Vehicles Previously Titled Out-of-State
The information below applies to vehicles that are titled out-of-state with or without a lienholder/leasing company and the following situation exists:
- Owner or lessee becomes a Florida resident.
- Change or transfer of vehicle title/registration to a Florida resident.
Title and Registration Fees
Title and registration fees are determined by several factors (type of plate purchased, vehicle weight, length of registration period, etc.). You may complete your title transaction by mail or visit any of the following Service Centers: Belle Glade, Delray, Central Palm Beach, NE County Courthouse, Royal Palm or West Palm Beach. Sales tax will be collected if there is a change of ownership or if used less than six months in another state without proof of paid tax. A Florida certificate of title will be mailed to you in two weeks. If you need additional information, submit a Contact Form.

Instructions for Vehicles with a Lienholder/Lessee
Vehicle owner or lessee:
2. Click on your preferred service center location.
3. Complete the lienholder letter.
4. Email, fax or mail the letter to your lienholder/leasing company.
NOTE: This process may take up to 30 days. Our office will notify you when we receive your title.
