Gannon to Serve as President of Florida Tax Collectors Association
West Palm Beach, Fla. – Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon will begin a one-year term as President of the Florida Tax Collectors Association (FTCA) when she is sworn in during the association’s 90th annual Education Forum. The forum will be held August 25-29 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida. Honorable Janice Warren, Citrus County Tax Collector, will swear in Gannon at the association’s installation ceremony on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
The FTCA is a collaborative network of Florida’s 67 tax collectors and their staff who work together to provide leadership, best practices and legislative advocacy in support of all constitutional tax collectors and the Floridians they serve. As President of the FTCA, Gannon will preside over all meetings of the Board of Directors and membership.
“It is an honor to serve in this role and I look forward to continuing our great progress on sound public policy, transparency, accountability and building public trust,” said Gannon.
Gannon’s top priority as President of the Florida Tax Collectors Association is to identify and leverage cost effective tools and innovative best practices to benefit all tax collectors.
“Florida tax collectors serve the public in every county which presents us with unique challenges,” said Gannon. “Some of us are working hard to meet the demands of unprecedented growth while others are trying to find more efficient ways to serve rural communities. Through the FTCA, we work collaboratively to meet all taxpayers’ needs.”
Gannon brings a rich and distinguished career in public service to her new role. As a former state representative from 2000-2006, she brings valuable experience working with policymakers in Tallahassee and understands the changing needs of Florida’s diverse communities.
Elected by an overwhelming majority in 2006, and re-elected in 2008, 2012 and 2016, she is the first woman to serve as Constitutional Tax Collector, serving Palm Beach County. Guided by her vision and leadership, the agency’s primary focus is to provide exceptional service to Palm Beach County’s 1.4 million residents.
Gannon is a three-time recipient of the Florida Tax Collectors Association’s “Excellence and Innovation in Financial Operations” award. She was also honored with the “Excellence in Government Leadership” award from the National Association of Government Accountants. The agency has also earned national, state and local recognition for its outstanding grassroots marketing campaigns, communications and educational materials including her monthly newsletter, Tax Talk with Anne Gannon.
