Constitutional Tax Collector Recognized for Excellence in Financial Operations
West Palm Beach, Fla. – Constitutional Tax Collector Anne Gannon today announced the agency was recognized for excellence in financial operations at the annual Florida Tax Collectors Association (FTCA) Education Forum held last month in Orlando. A judging panel of government financial executives examined the agency’s proficiency in several key areas including budgeting, customer focus, innovation and automation. The agency also received a perfect annual audit.
As she accepted the Legacy Award in Financial Operations, Gannon reflected on the agency’s mission to provide unparalleled service that inspires trust.
“This award recognizes our progress in achieving our mission,” said Gannon. “Improving our processes and implementing new technology gives us the ability to provide exceptional service, while the perfect audit reflects our commitment to accuracy in every transaction.”
The Legacy Award is one of the highest honors bestowed on a tax collector by the FTCA. The process for consideration is rigorous and includes a comprehensive review of the agency’s financial functions.
In addition to receiving the Legacy Award, the agency’s Chief Information Officer Joseph Sverak was recognized with the FTCA’s Distinguished Service Award. Brevard County Tax Collector Lisa Cullen and Manatee County Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. both nominated Sverak for his significate service contribution in the area of information technology (IT). In their nominations, both tax collectors praised Sverak’s IT expertise and leadership which has helped guide the FTCA on several technical projects.
Constitutional Tax Collector Gannon is currently serving a one-year term as president of the FTCA, a collaborative network of Florida’s 67 tax collectors who work together to provide leadership and legislative advocacy. Gannon has held several executive leadership positions in FTCA including vice president and treasurer.
