Florida Vessel Title Transfer
Boat titles are required and serve as proof of ownership in Florida. Title and registration fees are separate charges. A Florida Title Transfer is needed when a vessel currently titled in Florida changes/transfers ownership to a different Florida owner.
What to bring to your reservation:
- Completed Florida Certificate of Title
- Bill of Sale (If the purchase price isn’t listed on the title)
- Valid Driver License/ID Card, or Passport
If registration doesn’t list the weight of the boat trailer, please bring a completed Certified Official Weight Affidavit.

We have drop boxes located in all of our six service centers.
Please include your renewal notice, along with your Hull Identification Number (HIN) and phone number on the check.

In-Person By Reservation

Out-of-State Vessel Title Transfer:
To register a vessel that was previously titled out-of-state, complete and sign form HSMV 82040 Application for Certificate of Title. Additionally, you will need the following documents:
- Out-of-State Title Certificate, or the last boat registration
- Bill of Sale (If the purchase price isn’t listed on the title)
- Valid driver license/ID card or U.S. passport
If registration doesn’t list the weight of the boat trailer, please bring a completed Certified Official Weight Affidavit.
