Registration Renewal Options
Vehicle registration is proof of payment of registration tax and fees on a motor vehicle. It consists of a metal license plate, a decal and a registration certificate.
Can I Renew Online?
- You can provide personal identifying information of the vehicle’s owner to log in and complete the transaction.
- Your valid Florida insurance is on file and matches your vehicle identification number (VIN).
- You do not have a stop, hold or other violation on your driver license.
- It hasn’t been 8 months past your registration expiration date.
*If you renew online, you will receive your registration in the mail within 7-10 business days.
How do I Renew By Kiosk?

How do I Renew by Mail?
When you renew your registration by mail, you will receive your registration within 10-15 business days.

How do I Renew using the Drop Box?
Drop your payment off using our secure drop box which is located inside each of our service centers. Just keep in mind that you need to drop your payment off during regular business hours. How do I Renew in Person?
You MUST make an reservation at a service center if:
- Florida insurance data is not on file or does not match your VIN.
- You have a stop, hold or other violation on your driver license.
- Your registration is more than eight months past the expiration date.
- Heavy trucks (gross vehicle weight of 26,001 lbs. or more) cannot be renewed online.
Florida Title Transfer
A certificate of Title is proof of ownership in Florida. When a motor vehicle, mobile home or boat is sold, a new Certificate of Title must be issued in the purchaser(s) name. All vehicles are required to be titled, except mopeds, motorized bicycles and trailers weighing less than 2,000 lbs. Titles may be obtained at one of our service centers or by mail.

You will need to bring all of the following documents to your reservation:
- Florida Certificate of Title
- Bill of Sale (If the purchase price isn’t listed on the title)
- U.S. Driver License or Passport
- Valid Proof of Insurance (Proof of insurance is NOT required for the following: Motorcyles, Trailers, Boats, Mobile Homes, or Off-Highway Vehicles.)

Ways to Obtain a Duplicate Title:
By Mail
Complete the Application For Duplicate Title. Once completed, mail the application and payment in the amount of $85.75 via check or money order to:

By Drop Box
Complete the Application For Duplicate Title. Once completed, drop the application and payment in the amount of $85.75 via check or money order in one of our drop boxes, located in our six service centers. Visit our Locations page for directions to the service center nearest you.

Out-of-State Title Transfer:
To register a vehicle that was previously titled out-of-state, complete and sign form HSMV 82040 Application for Certificate of Title. Additionally, you will need the following documents:

You will need to bring all of the following documents to your reservation.
- Original Out of State Title
- Driver License or U.S. Passport
- Proof of Sales Tax (if owned the vehicle less than 6 months)
- Completed VIN Verification Form, or Bring The Vehicle
- Proof of Valid Florida Insurance

- Completed Title by both buyer and seller
- Completed Bill of Sale (IF selling price is not listed on title)
- Driver License/ID Card, or U.S. Passport
- Original Out of State Title
- Completed VIN Verification Form, or The Vehicle
- Proof of Valid Florida Insurance

- Completed Title by both buyer and seller

- Original Out of State Title

Disbabled Parking Permit
Disabled person parking permits are issued in two categories:
Permanent – Persons with long-term mobility impairments, or who are certified as legally blind, qualify for a permanent disabled person parking permit or license plate. Permanent permits and license plates are valid for four years and must be renewed by the permit holder’s birthdate. There is no fee for this parking permit.
Temporary – Persons with short-term mobility impairments may receive a temporary disabled parking permit for up to six months as specified by a certifying medical authority. Temporary disabled person parking permits require a $15 fee. If the need for the temporary disabled person parking permit exceeds six months, an additional temporary permit may be issued. If the additional permit is applied for within 12 months from the issuance of the first permit, no additional fee is required.
