FLORIDA CERTIFICATE OF TITLE

A certificate of title in electronic or paper form is the proof of ownership of a vehicle, mobile home or vessel in the state of Florida. Most vehicles, mobile homes or vessels are required to be titled, with the exception of mopeds, motorized bicycles, and trailers weighing less than 2,000 pounds.

You must apply for registration and title in your name when you purchase a vehicle, mobile home or vessel; bring a vehicle, mobile home or vessel into Florida from another state; or at any time the ownership of a vehicle, mobile home or vessel changes.

BILL OF SALE

Thousands of vehicles are sold in Florida every year. As a seller, there are certain things you should know before selling a vehicle, including the process to transfer the title. Most importantly you will want to protect yourself by completing a Bill of Sale, which removes your name from the vehicle so you are no longer liable for the vehicle you sold. As of July 2009, Florida law requires all sellers to file a Bill of Sale.
