Learn about Amendment 10
September 24, 2018
With the November 6 election just a few weeks away, now is the time to learn about the amendments you will be asked to consider. Amendment 10 is especially important as it provides critical protections for our veterans, our voting rights, our tax dollars and our public safety.
Known as the Protection Amendment, Amendment 10:
- Protects our veterans by preserving the structure and governance of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to support the changing needs of Florida’s military members
- Protects our voting rights by ensuring all constitutional officers in your county are elected (sheriff, tax collector, property appraiser, clerk of court and supervisor of elections)
- Protects our tax dollars by improving state budgeting by starting the Legislature’s annual session in January of even-numbered years
- Protects public safety by creating the Office of Domestic Security and Counterterrorism within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
This November Floridians will be asked to vote on several amendments to our state constitution. Amendment 10 is especially important as it provides critical protections for our veterans, our voting rights and public safety.
