RE: Tax Collector Gannon to Host Florida Tax Collector Association’s 2012 Spring Conference

LOCATION: Delray Beach Marriott Hotel, Corner of A1A and Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach
WHY: The Florida Tax Collectors Association’s Spring Conference is an educational event focused on providing more efficient and streamlined service delivery to customers. Topics including Ethics in the Public Sector, Real ID Act and Non-US Citizens, Florida Real Estate Market, Economic Outlook and Investments will be presented and discussed. Tax Collectors are required to have 24 hours of continuing education credits each year.
ROTC Students from Atlantic High will “Present the Colors” at the opening session on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. followed by welcoming remarks from County Commission Vice-Chair Steven Abrams.
Also on Monday, Alex Acosta will present “Ethics in the Public Sector.” Acosta, the former US Attorney who successfully prosecuted high profile officials for various ethical violations, is one of the top experts on Florida’s ethics law.
WHO: The FTCA is a statewide association made up of the 67 tax collectors in Florida. The Association provides education and training and technical advice and expertise to elected and appointed policy makers. John Drew of Nassau County is the current President and Tim Qualls is the Executive Director of the FTCA.
