Important Tax Deadline for Palm Beach County Businesses

West Palm Beach, FL – Anne Gannon, Constitutional Tax Collector, reminds area businesses that September 30 is the last day to pay 2013 local business taxes.  Taxes paid after September 30 are delinquent and subject to civil actions and monthly penalties.  Delinquent penalties are:

  • October 1 = 10% penalty
  • November 1 = 15% penalty
  • December 1 = 20% penalty + $10.00 collection fee
  • January 1 = 25% penalty + $10.00 collection fee

The Tax Collector mailed 104,095 2013 Local Business Tax Renewal bills to Palm Beach County businesses.  “Every business in our county that provides services or merchandise to the public must pay business tax and display the Local Business Tax Receipt,” said Gannon.  The Receipt must be displayed where customers can view it.

Gannon encourages businesses to pay online.  E-checks are free.  Online credit card vendors charge a convenience fee per transaction.  Payments can also be made by mail or at a service center.  To save time, payments can be deposited in a lobby drop box at any service location.  Service centers accept cash and checks only.

Local Business Tax Receipts are mandated in Florida Law, Chapter 205 and Palm Beach County Ordinance, Chapter 17.17.  Anyone suspecting a business is avoiding taxes is encouraged to report it by completing a short online form.
